Online dating scams italian
This was when I had just started experimenting with online dating.I had no idea that the dating sites are not only havens for love-seeking souls; they are also jungles of predators who want to take advantage of the love-seeking souls.
Debbie Best, a 50-year-old residential habilitation trainer and employment specialist from Butte, Montana, found herself the unwitting victim of an online dating scam.
" From internet cafes all over west African countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal etc scammers are zeroing in on their prey - singles looking for love online. The Nigerians call them 'maghas' which is slang for gullible white people.
The scammers spend their day trolling the dating sites and chat rooms for contact emails, and then send off thousands of fraudulent letters and emails awaiting the victim's replies.
They are also interested in your financial status but can be very subtle with their inquiries. They begin the process of engaging you in a 'relationship' with the intent and promise of marriage. Some never even ask their victims but wait for their victims to offer. If the victim stops because they became aware they were scammed, the scammer will then come back pretending to be a new person, usually in law enforcement, offering to help the victim recover their money. They also have access to pre-recorded stolen web-cam sessions to fool you and can easily obtain American and UK phone numbers that forward their calls to Africa.
After decades of being hobby-less, I am happy to announce that I now have a hobby: I report scammers on dating websites.
